We wanted to provide you with an important update regarding the recent notification about the impending discontinuation of 2G/3G services in South Africa.
It has been brought to our attention that the proposed deadlines mentioned in Government Gazette 1227 of 2022 have not yet been formally approved by the involved governmental and private sector stakeholders. Consequently, these deadlines have not been enacted into law.
We wish to also further clarify that while technical support will no longer be available after the 31st of December 2023 for legacy 2G/3G units, the centralised CENTURION server services for these units will not be discontinued as yet. In areas with reliable 2G/3G coverage, users can choose to continue using legacy devices at their discretion and own risk.
However, we highly recommend upgrading to a 4G unit for substantial advantages such as enhanced network coverage, faster transfer speeds, and increased reliability, especially during load shedding. Recent investments in power backup systems by networks further solidify the reliability of 4G units.
To facilitate the transition, CENTURION is offering discounted prices on the G-UTLRA and G-SPEAK 4G units for a limited time, subject to stock availability.
